Dear Colleagues,
We are excited about the upcoming Calgary Vision Event in September. This intimate and highly interactive course is open to optometrists, ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and physicians and therapists who treat TBI patients. Topics include vision development, visual neurology and traumatic brain injury. It will also cover corresponding diagnosis, management and therapy techniques that can be used in every day practice. Our speakers are internationally recognized leaders in their fields:
Dr. Leonard Press from New Jersey. Perhaps one of the biggest names in Vision Therapy, and former President of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. He will be presenting on vision rehab principles in the management of pediatric learning. He is also a distinguished author of three major binocular vision textbooks.
Dr. Curt Baxstrom from Washington, is the Founder of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA). He will be presenting on management of TBI/Strab.
Dr. Yves Sauve from Edmonton, is an acclaimed researcher from the University of Alberta Department of Ophthalmology. He will be providing an overview of neurological inputs to vision, and motor outputs.
Dr. Peter Shaw, from Ontario. He is the Chief Scientist of Shaw Lens Inc., and will be presenting on spectacle management of aniseikonia, amblyopia and strab with iseikonic lens designs.
Dr. Charles Boulet, author of Visual Impediments to Learning and Dr. B's Parent and Teacher Guide, and founder of VisionMechanic. He will be introducing Geobee, a wonderful new training tool for visual-motor development.
Furthermore, in October, as part of the AAO Annual Conference, I will be doing a course to answer your most common binocular vision questions.
These events will be a great opportunity for networking, and for intra- and interprofessional collaboration! Looking forward to seeing you at all these great events!
